Utorrent seeding goal minimum ratio9/13/2023 They force you to create accounts and hand over personal info that can get you busted later when the site gets raided, or just silently handed off to the authorities who run it themselves for a time collecting data to go after the pirates later. I totally see how this is not enough incentive for others to "share" their stuff. People can't even tell who published them.īut again, that's just my value, and I keep it to myself. There is zero gatekeeping once you share, the files are no longer "yours". To me, the best way, or the "spirit", is that you either share it with your friends only (which is what I typically do nowadays if I buy the stuff myself), or just publish it publicly (ideally anonymously), than only to some condescending pricks which somehow think being able to download "exclusive" content others share is a bragging right.įWIW, this is basically how eMule and most Japanese P2P softwares worked, so it influenced me a lot. I was heavily involved in the PT scene for a while 15 years ago, and really hated how big the egos and how many the dramas were there. It's more like a bunch of people trying to show who has the biggest e-penis (ratio, highest upload, etc.) and they're definitely not "friends" or know each other. I wish! The thing is, private trackers are not like that, at least not anymore. > just a group of people who knew each other and shared stuff. It sounds like the end result is someone can write spoofed or spam info into torrent trackers.ĭifferent people have different understanding of what the spirit should be like. So I think the issue is that keys to authorize control of the automated software to propagate tracker info is being leaked. > The same security hole also grants direct access to one of the sites tracker ‘bots’ through the panel that controls it. The feed is protected with a passkey but that’s only useful when nobody knows what it is. > From there the script starts checking for any new entries on a specific RSS feed which is hidden away on another site that has nothing to do with torrents. It’s then uploaded to the requesting site which updates its SQL database accordingly. > One begins with a GET request to another tracker, which responds with a torrent file. I'm not understanding what this vulnerability exposes.Įdit: It looks like it's actually explained earlier: What is this torrent passkey used for? My understanding is that torrent trackers were all about sharing peers. And from there, more, and more, and more – revealing torrent passkeys for every single one on the way. Some basic queries on that URL lead to even more torrent sites. Settings being referred to that were used in uT.> Another screenshot featuring a torrent related to a 2022 movie reveals the URL of yet another third-party supplier tracker. But it's worse for larger or less popular projects since as soon as 4 hours is up, it stops seeding which may not have been enough time to reach the 2.5x goal. While this fulfills my share ratio goal it usually means that, as a fast seeder on a popular project I'm not providing the swarm as much back as I'd like. If I set the same values in qBT this would mean that for smaller projects (1-2GB each) I tend to only upload for about 15 minutes and stop once I've reached the 2.5x state which. With uT I was able to set a minimum seed ratio of 2.5 as well as a minimum time to seed which helps keep small projects alive. I've just migrated from uTorrent 3.2.2 and prefer to maintain a D/U ratio of a minimum 1:2.5 or more. When set to 'AND' mode, the software should continue to seed past the Timer goal until the ratio is metĮven just a radio button that is only active when both a time and ratio goal are input that sits below the 'Then' option worded as 'Require both limits to be met before taking the select option' would be sufficient When set to 'AND' mode, the software should continue to seed past the ratio goal until the timer runs out I would be anticipating that the feture would work to enable a minimum seeding time in addition to a minimum seeding goal as opposed to current operation of reaching a ratio goal OR a time goal. Specifically the ability to select 'BitTorrent -> Seeding Limits -> Time to seed' option as 'OR' or 'AND' - something akin to what uTorrent 3.2.2 had (attached) I'd like to request an extra options for seeding.
